By order of the Colonel the requirement of serving as a Field Training Officer or to be qualified as a Field Training Officer has temporarily been removed under suggestion of department members. We will evaluate this for no less than thirty days and no more than ninety days before the SOP will be updated officially.
It should be noted that all supervisors, regardless of wishing to serve as an official FTO or not, during this trial period will be expected to perform the duties of an FTO if one is not available. I do believe that all supervisors are an important part of our field education even if they choose to not make it a primary goal for their time on duty.
I would like to also announce that Corporal Luis has been appointed as our Training Coordinator, congratulations, he will work with Captain Mouth to finalize our new FTO program which will be overseen via patrol operations.
